About Me
Howdy!
I'm Becca, and I'm a Journalist.

I've known since I was young kid that I wanted to be a storyteller. My parents were news junkies, and they passed that on to me. In college, I decided Journalism was the path for me. I concentrated in broadcast media because my interest was in TV news. Since then, I've had varied experiences in both small and mid-sized markets.
If I had to pick a job that made a huge difference in my life, it would be my first job out of college: Upnorthlive in Traverse City. I spent 3 years in that newsroom as a morning producer, and I did It all. I stacked the rundown, gathered and wrote scripts, made graphics, edited VO, VOSOTs, PKGS, etc, and ran the control booth and coordinated live coverage. It was intense, but it gave me an appreciation for all the people it takes to get a newscast on air.
At my last station, I had the opportunity to expand my experience because the station was one of the first Scripps Station to roll out a new format of local news, completely focused on covering each neighborhood in our viewing area.
I'm currently producing at WXYZ in my home market, Detroit.
I'm really looking to keep growing and honing my skills in this industry.
